ANNIE
Airedales are like no other breed on Planet Earth.
I have had an Airedale since I was 8 years old;
they are truly the gentle giants of the terrier
breed as well as being clowns. Airedales have a
passion for life; there is no other way to describe them.
A good while after we lost our Kizi to old age, we
started thinking about finding an Airedale puppy.
We spoke to many people, including our vet and trainer,
and they suggested we contact the Airedale Rescue
Association, and so we did. Sidney Hardie helped
us by putting us in contact with Marilyn Doudt in
Texas, (Sidney didn't have any Airedales for adoption
at that time) where Annie was waiting for adoption.
Not a puppy--a two-year old Airedale, bright eyed,
long-legged and full of love just waiting for her forever home.
We adopted Annie and she has made our lives more fun in every way.
Annie's first family had to let her go as they did not have enough
time for her; we will always be grateful that they took Annie to
the Airedale Rescue Association so that we could 'rescue' her.
Her full name is Annie Loper, as she runs like a horse with those long legs!
Annie had been to obedience school before she came to live with us
but we took her back for another course. She has also gone to
agility school -- but still rather clumsy with those very long
legs! We really thought that we would have a lot of trouble
at first, until she settled in and learned new ways, but
that never happened. We were given lots of reading material
and we followed those suggestions and she settled right in
to her forever home. We are completely taken by her;
delighted with her in every way. She has lots of love to
give and we know she is so happy here; it shows in her passion for life!
We have been blown away by the caring and support of this association
and the people who spend countless time and money to find forever homes
for these Airedales. Their work is not easy, and they take painstaking
time and care in finding just the right people for their Airedales.
Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts, for you do extraordinary work.
Annie found her 'forever home' with us--a great ending to a rough beginning.
