Zeke is my oldest Airedale, he came to me when I contacted Airedale Rescue after my Wire Fox Terrier died as the result of Addison's Disease at the age of eleven. His constant companion Lucy (Airedale) went into such a decline that I had to get a companion for her before I was ready. When I completed the application for Airedale Rescue Melissa contacted me to tell me about a family that was giving up Zeke because he had just had his third operation to remove rocks from his stomach (I would have gotten rid of the rocks, not the dog). As soon as Lucy met Zeke she went into a play bow and that was when I became the crazy lady with two Airedales. Zeke has been part of the pack for six years, is now eight years old and in good health, has never eaten another rock to my knowledge but then he is now a house dog, not left outside by himself all day.

Cholla came to us almost four years ago after Lucy died as the result of heart disease. I waited almost six months before I was ready to add another dog to the pack. Cholla was a door dasher and a counter-surfer; her counter-surfing days are mostly over although she snagged almost a dozen of the cookies I had baked for my mother about two weeks ago, I guess they were just too tempting as they sat on the counter waiting to cool. The door dashing was another story, she would recall very nicely in the park during obedience class and from the other side of the dog park but let her get out the front door and forget it, her little ears were plugged and there was not getting her back until I managed to corner her somewhere. Cholla also has her CGC and Delta certification and will be visiting hospice patients as soon as I get my training.

Although Fiona is a Wire Fox Terrier, she thinks of herself as the leader of the pack of Airedales in this house. She came to me through Rose who asked if I would foster her until Fox Terrier Rescue could find her a good home. Well, that lasted all of about a week, then she became part of the Airedale pack at the Zebuth house.
