Miss Madeline is doing super. I am so glad
she's with us and everyday we tell each other how
lucky we are. I know that sounds corny, but she's
just so sweet. She's really adjusted well and really
her only big phobia is that she's afraid of the dark.
We used to put a night light on for her, but she still
wouldn't really relax at night. She would pace around
the house all night, guarding I suppose, and we would
wake up in the night to her padding around. So, now,
every night when we go to bed, she crawls UNDER our
bed and she's kind of got her own condo under there
now - toys, pillows, blankets and she sleeps great.
Almost too great, because sometimes we hear her
snoring under there. She cracks us up with her
silliness and she has earned the nickname "the Great
Relocater". She has not destroyed anything, but she
likes to pick things up and find new places for them.
We are always finding things in funny places and it
makes us laugh.
Update
Everyone is doing fine here. I can't believe it has
almost been a year since Maddie joined us. She's just
so much a part of us now, it seems like she's been
here forever. She's finally relaxed enough to come
out of her "condo" under the bed at night. Now she
just sleeps on the floor on my side of the bed.
(Under her pink and green Queenie blanket) she snores
loud! She's also been having fun digging her way to
China behind the garage. We went to the December
Airedale meet-up and the 2 of them just had a blast.
Maybe you will remember that Maddie used to just stay
on the periphery of the dog park, well now she is
right in the middle with all of the dogs, nosepokes
for all! She's become quite the ringleader, pestering
and enticing all to play. We've had a few mini play
dates in my yard too and she is relentless. Maybe
she's just maturing and feels more dominate. Anyway,
she had a great time.
