Dedicated to finding the perfect home for every homeless Airedale

KRISSY

I know this note is long overdue, but we want you to know that since her adoption in November, Krissy is doing great and has certainly added a lot of interest to our household! (But what else would you expect from an Airedale?)

Even though she is quite petite, she makes her presence known with her deep guttural sighs (which sound like a cow mooing—no kidding!) and her spirited, cadenced bark at any bird, canine or human who dares to invade her space. Still, she is quick to listen and come at a skip or a gallop, depending on her mood.

Krissy is the only dog we’ve known who actually skips and when she gets excited, she stands on her back legs with her paws outstretched in front of her like she’s trying to give you a hug. Of course, she does this with more enthusiasm than gentleness, but her affection is genuinely apparent.

Amber our seven-year-old ‘dale has patiently shown her the ropes—how to go through the doggy door, where to sleep at night (on her own feather bed at the foot of mom and dad’s bed) and how to chase around the house and yard like maniacs. Krissy is actually too fast for Amber, which makes Amber bark at her in frustration. However, they alternately stalk each other, which make for a great game of tag.

They go with us to office every day where their official jobs are company greeters and security. When not working, they sleep on their beds in my office and go on long walks with whoever is willing to take them (which is just about everybody).

Both dogs have been helping me with promotion for my book, Life to the Max: Maxims for a Great Life by a Dog named Max. And we’ve also started a blog for the book which people can join and add their comments. The address is http://lifetomax.com/blog/. I’ve attached few pictures with Amber & Krissy that I’m using for promotion. Ten 10% of the book price goes to support Airedale Rescue.

By the way, the book won another award; it was named Best Gift Book in the Arizona Book Awards, hosted by the Arizona Association of Book Publishers. I’m going to be having a book signing at Changing Hands Bookstore on Saturday, August 9th from 11 am to noon, so I hope everyone will join me there. 10% of the book sales during that event will also go to Airedale Rescue. The store will only allow one dog at the signing so Amber will be with me while Krissy continues to learn her manners. I’m sure Krissy will join us soon enough—as has been said about Airedales in general--she has style, brains, and clownish wit--everything one looks for in a spouse!

For now, Krissy and Amber, moan a hello (they are sleeping in my office after a 5 mile run with dad this morning.) I’ll keep you posted of any more updates. Thanks for all you do for rescue and have a GREAT day!!
