RESCUE ACTIVITIES
Please check all rescue services you can provide:
Provide "primary" foster care: in-home care while initial
temperament/behavior evaluation, veterinary care, spaying/neutering, and
grooming are done and until another foster home or an appropriate
permanent home is available
Provide "secondary" foster care: in-home care after the first
work above is accomplished
Have a crate and a way to keep the foster dog separate from the resident
pets when the humans are not present (preferably with babygates so the
foster dog is not isolated).
If you have dogs, they must be current on all vaccinations appropriate to their age.
Foster dogs must never be left in the yard unsupervised by a human.
Take responsibility for seeing that immediate action is taken to
remove Airedales from shelters, provided that shelter personnel feel
that dogs' temperaments are suitable for adoption
Provide kennel space at reduced or no cost until a foster or
permanent home is available
Provide transportation from shelters or existing homes to vets,
foster homes, or permanent homes (private pilots are urgently needed -- please
note in the comments box below if you could help transport by private plane)
Provide grooming for Airedales in shelters or foster homes
Conduct pre-adoption house checks to insure that conditions for
adoption can be met
Conduct post-adoption house checks (and counseling if necessary)
to insure that dog and new owner are happy with each other
Provide obedience instruction/training (if qualified) when
needed before or after adoption
AUXILLIARY RESCUE SUPPORT
Check newspapers weekly for lost or found Airedales, monitor
adult Airedales being offered as "free" and be sure that people are
aware of Airedale rescue. Follow up immediately or pass information
along to someone who will
Act as a contact with local shelters, providing your name &
phone number as someone to contact if an Airedale is turned in to their
facility, make available copies of rescue paperwork to shelter staff
Provide preventative counseling to dog owners which may help
them to resolve the problems which led them to consider getting rid of
their dog
Be available to arrange meetings for potential adopters with
your Airedale if they have never seen one or if they need to
determine allergy tolerance
Craft unique Airedale items to sell to raise funds.
Publish a newsletter for volunteers and adopters.
Provide bookkeeping or accounting services at no cost.
