Southwest Airedale Terrier (SWAT) Rescue RESCUE ACTIVITIES Please check all rescue services you can provide: Provide "primary" foster care: in-home care while initial temperament/behavior evaluation, veterinary care, spaying/neutering, and grooming are done and until another foster home or an appropriate permanent home is available Provide "secondary" foster care: in-home care after the first work above is accomplished Take responsibility for seeing that immediate action is taken to remove Airedales from shelters, provided that shelter personnel feel that dogs' temperaments are suitable for adoption Provide kennel space at reduced or no cost until a foster or permanent home is available Provide transportation from shelters or existing homes to vets, foster homes, or permanent homes (private pilots are urgently needed -- please note in the comments box below if you could help transport by private plane) Provide grooming for Airedales in shelters or foster homes Conduct pre-adoption house checks to insure that conditions for adoption can be met Conduct post-adoption house checks (and counseling if necessary) to insure that dog and new owner are happy with each other Provide obedience instruction/training (if qualified) when needed before or after adoption AUXILLIARY RESCUE SUPPORT Check newspapers weekly for lost or found Airedales, monitor adult Airedales being offered as "free" and be sure that people are aware of Airedale rescue. Follow up immediately or pass information along to someone who will Act as a contact with local shelters, providing your name & phone number as someone to contact if an Airedale is turned in to their facility, make available copies of rescue paperwork to shelter staff Provide preventative counseling to dog owners which may help them to resolve the problems which led them to consider getting rid of their dog Be available to arrange meetings for potential adopters with your Airedale if they have never seen one or if they need to determine allergy tolerance Craft Airedale items for fundraisers. Publish a newsletter for volunteers and adopters. Provide bookkeeping/legal services at no cost. Provide legal services at no cost. Provide web design, maintenance or hosting at no cost.
