On May 22, 2003, Airedale rescue volunteers in Arizona received 19 Airedales from animal control authorities after they were abandoned by their breeder.
The older dogs appear to have been house pets, or at least have had human contact at one time. The younger ones were not socialized and are very shy of humans, but show no signs of aggression.
They all appear to be healthy, with beautiful pearly white teeth. We didn't find any ticks or
fleas on any of them, their eyes are clear and their skin looks pretty good other than a few superficial
wounds on some of them.
When the final count was in, we ended up with five purebred black & tan Airedales and fourteen "designer
Airedales" in non-standard colors.
Because most of the dogs were not purebred Airedales,
funds were not requested from the ATCA Rescue & Adoption Committee.
Instead, members of the Internet community opened their hearts and
their pocketbooks and donated the funds for boarding and medical costs.

Comment: I just want to set the record straight.
The Az 19 were owned by A****h E****e and N****n N***l. I have been blamed for this for years.
I have the litter records to prove this. These people were in Northern Az when their
landlord set the dogs loose. Before this incident, I begged A****h to give me the dogs,
she stead fast refused. Southern Sollars
