Please let me say a million *thank yous* to all the folks whom sent toys,
treats, adornment and $$ for these two girls. There just aren't enough ways
for me to say it.........I am still in awe at the way a lot of you folks
pulled and put some things together for these two. And the emails I've
received about the girlz.......I'm still trying to print them all out!
Folks, there just really aren't words to describe how much all you've done
is just so appreciated. I will remember this journey forever, not just
because of the two sweet ladies in my care, but because of all of you, too.
Mollie and Dixie have gone to a home that has been waiting for them for a
while now. Joyce Chandler and her family are a close knit bunch and are not
complete without these two girlz as part of their family. From speaking
with her and her hubby on the land-line and the emails I've received from
them, I felt good about them from the beginning. When Joyce arrived at the
kennel with her eldest daughter, Aubrey, in tow and I met them and the girlz
met them, I felt I was correct in my assumptions about them. They stayed
for quite a while and let the girlz get used to them, (which didn't take
very long). Joyce brought her photos of her previous dale, Leedy and showed
them to me, along with pix of her wft and skin kids and kittys. If one
couldn't tell before, one could tell by the pix, of the love for animals in
this family.
Joyce wants to keep in touch with not only me, but the rest of the list as
well, so all can know how Mollie and Dixie are getting along. Now, I just
have to send her the addy if I can dig it out or remember it, she wants to
join the list.
Saturday afternoon was a joyous, yet sad occasion for me as you all know.
But, I've received an awfull lot of support from all of you that has really
helped me along. Thank you very much. AND, they only live about 7 hours
up the road in Greenville, NC. hehehe.......so I hope they ain't suprised
to find me and my furkids out in their drive way one morning! Joyce did
tell me that the fourth bedroom was for guests!
Also, there are 9 new photos that are going up on the girlz website, when I
know they are up, I will let you all know.
A billion thanx to all,,,,,,,,,,,Deb and the furballs
Thanks for all of you who care, have sent donations and toys and have otherwise
supported the rescue of Mollie and Dixie. Deb Nicewonger has to be one of the
nicest, most tenderhearted people I have ever met. We cried together when I
left with the two dogs she had loved and cared for since June. The girls seemed
to understand so well. They were obviously excited, but then when it was time
to leave they both walked over to Deb and it looked like they were saying
"Thank you for rescuing us. Thank you for your love and attention. Thank you
for finding someone who can take us in and love us forever and let us be dogs."
It was precious. Their first night home was very peaceful. They are obviously
not real sure of men, but I think that will change real soon. The two men who
will spend the most time in their lives are very loving people. When it was
time for sleep, they laid down on their rugs and I did not hear a peep from
them until about 7:30 when Dixie said to me "Are you sleeping all day or what?"
Our fence will be completed by Tuesday, till then we are ALWAYS on a leash. We
are going shopping this afternoon. You people have no idea how much it means to
me to have these dogs. They have completed my family. I will keep you all
posted with further updates of this happy ending.

I'm
still here and the worst thing that has happened to those two is that the
vet has put them on a diet.
The fence has been up since early October.
From September 7 till then I leash walked those two about 4 times a day,
sometimes more. I still even have shoulders, it's amazing.
The girls were spayed over the Christmas holidays. Mollie promptly chewed out her
stitches and had to have surgery again the next day. They were ecstatic
when we pulled into the drive and they saw their house again. Since I was
out of school for the holidays, I could watch them both closely, especially
the chewer, and their recovery from that point was quick and unremarkable.
Housebreaking has gone well, they do know their names, they still have
murder in their hearts for my rabbit, and both are pretty tolerant of the
cats. Dixie, since her spay, has starting growling at the cats, she didn't
do it before then. Maybe it's just hormonal and will settle down.
The only
complaint I could offer about these two is that they lick constantly, not
just little I'm- so- proud- to- see -you,- I- love- you licks, these are
full blown slurps. I love doggie kisses better than most folks, but these
are getting a little bit much. When company comes over it is a battle, not
many other people want very large dogs licking them all the time. Any
suggestions for curtailing that little habit? I don't want them to stop, I
just want them to be a little selective. Is that too much to expect?
