SAMMIE OF NEW MEXICO

Sammie is one of the wonderful dogs helped by Airedale Rescue.   She is only 20 months old and has the most wonderfully sweet and mellow temperament.   In addition she has adapted quickly to her new attentive family.   Sammie came to us from a senior citizen no longer able to care for her and she was horribly overweight.   During her fostering we learned that she had subluxation in the left hip.   While this has to be painful, Sammie is stoic and the most obvious sign of pain is her quickness to fatigue on walks.

to Sammie's Surgery Fund

Sammie is being fostered by a family who plans to adopt her despite her hip problems.   Erika, Justin and sons Kurt and Skyler have been providing a loving home with moderate exercise and a healthy diet.   As a result Sammie has lost 16# and is developing muscle tone.   Sammie will be needing surgery on her hip in the next month and her new family will take her though her recovery.   We are very fortunate to have such a wonderful family willing to adopt and care for Sammie.   We are hopeful that with surgery Sammie will go on to lead an active and comfortable life.

We have appreciated so much the response to the Fund Drive for Sammie who had to undergo surgery for her hip.

Sammie had surgery on Tues and is home with her new family who have modified their house to accommodate Sammie's lengthy recovery period. Sammie did well in the surgery and was walking solidly the next day. Now the hard part comes for Erika, Justin and the boys. Only leash exercise for next few months. The family has done a terrific job preparing Sammie for surgery as she came to rescue weighing over 100# and horribly out of shape. They are very committed to giving Sammie a full life.

We will get pics to the website soon
