Pre-Operative and Post-Operative Photos and X-Rays

Drs. Barbara Gores and Jim Boulay have kindly given me permission to post some of their pre-operative and post-operative x-rays and photographs of Rose.

They plan to use Rose as a case example in an upcoming lecture at the World Veterinary Orthopedic Conference in Munich.

As Dr. Gores noted ....Rose's celebrity continues!

Photos with the notation (GB) were supplied by, and are the property of, Drs. Gores and Boulay.

For those of us who are not veterinarians, a few notes:

  • The line of little square objects outlining her knee are the staples that held her skin together until the suture healed.
  • The pre-operative x-rays are not as clear as the post-operative x-rays because her leg was so deformed it was impossible to completely straighten and flatten it.
  • The lateral views are taken with the dog lying on her side. The ventrodorsal views are taken with the dog lying on her back and her legs stretched straight down.
