A Labour of Love
Presenting the 7th Quilt by the Airedale Quilting Bee
This is the seventh quilt that the Airedale Terrier Quilting Bee group has presented to supporters of this wonderful breed. This year's quilt raffle was held on October 4, 2003, at the Airedale Terrier Club of America National Sweepstakes show, held in conjunction with the Montgomery County Kennel Club All-Terrier Show.

The money raised is sent to the ATCA Rescue and Adoption Committee to be disbursed to rescue groups across the United States. The funds are used to reimburse Airedale rescue volunteers for the funds they spend to spring Airedales from shelters, to pay for veterinary care, to treat wounds and diseases, to board rescues when there are no foster homes available and for expert grooming in cases of disastrous neglect, as well as other expenses that are incurred by the rescue workers to help rehome these less fortunate Airedales.
This year our quilt is a tribute to one such frontline rescuer, Annette Hall, who worked with the midwest Airedale rescue group, Airedale Terrier Rescue & Adoption, Inc. (ATRA)
Sadly, Annette "crossed the Rainbow Bridge" on September 4, 2003. Annette did get a chance to see the quilt that was named in her honor. Many people purchased tickets in Annette's memory. As one such person said so eloquently:
"In memory of Annette Hall. Every time one of her rescued dogs is touched with a loving hand she will be remembered."
Annette was a wonderful person who rescued countless homeless Airedales over the years, as have many members of our Airedale Quilting Bee and dozens of other warmhearted volunteers across the U.S. and Canada. The funds raised by our Quilting Bee go to the A.T.C.A. Rescue & Adoption Committee, which assists volunteers with their frontline rescue work as needed, as they help homeless Airedales find their forever homes.
Over the years, Annette shared her home with many Airedales. We are sure that this is what Annette's own home really looked like! Anyone who has worked with Airedale Rescue knows that when each Lucky Dog goes to his forever home, a little part of his spirit stays behind with his rescuer. If you look very carefully at the 2003 Rescue Quilt, you can feel the love of all those happy Airedales who have left a part of their big hearts behind to keep Annette company!
The Airedale Terrier Quilting Bee is an online community of Airedale lovers and quilters who have banded together, sharing their love of Airedales and their love of fabric and quilts to make these masterpieces. The entire project is conducted online - many of us have never met, and probably never will. We live as far north as the Yukon Territory in Canada, as far south as Florida, from the Atlantic, to the Pacific coasts. We communicate via a mailing list, and keep the quilter's website for our project reference material.
