I live in
Troutdale, Oregon, a suburb about 20 miles east of Portland on the edge of the
beautiful Columbia River Gorge. I've lived in Oregon all my life. The Pacific
NW is a beautiful part of the world and a great place for Airedales. My husband
Roy and I have been married for 39 years. We have two Airedales named Beau and
Anabelle. Beau is eight years-old and Anabelle is three.
Airedale Terriers
have been an important part of our family for the last 15 years. Our first
Airedale, Bonnie has been featured on several of the Rescue quilts. Sadly,
Bonnie crossed the Bridge in 2000. She will always have a special place in my
heart.
My love for
Bonnie, Beau and Anabelle has inspired me to try to help other not so fortunate
Airedales to find love, health and forever homes by volunteering my sewing
talents on the Airedale Quilting Bee rescue quilts. This quilt is my sixth.
I've had such enjoyment helping with these quilts. Each year I become so
attached to my quilt block, I feel great sadness when I send it away. The
sadness doesn't last long though. It is so exciting to see each block appear on
the website and watch as all the pieces come together to create something so
wonderful and so filled with love.
This year's quilt
is even more special because it represents the love and commitment given to so
many lucky Airedales by a very special person. Although I've never met Annette
Hall, I feel like I'd be very much at home in her house. The joy and happiness
you feel when you look at this quilt just makes you grin. I love the whimsy and
the humor. I told my husband just before I sent my quilt block away in the mail
that I'd love to visit this house. It's a magic place filled with laughter and
love.
I love this quilt
and feel honored to have taken part in such a special project.

My block shows
the serious Airedale intent on sewing a beautiful quilt together while a
naughty puppy pulls on the other end. It's a perfect description of life
with Beau (the serious Airedale) and Anabelle (the naughty puppy). You'll
notice the framed portrait on the wall. That's Bonnie. I picture her
watching over all the silly antics. |
