I am Helen Arnold and I live in Calgary, Alberta,
Canada. I have been involved in Airedales for about nine years and have been
showing and breeding my dogs for the past seven. I have participated in the
Rescue quilt almost since its inception. The squares I submit are usually
designed by me and depict the natural behaviour of my dogs in their home
environment. However, I can't take all the credit, I have a very talented
sister, Frances Mester, who lives in Edmonton and who does the actual sewing and
appliqué for me.

Fran's biggest failing is the
fact that she doesn't own an Airedale! However, she does own Afghan hounds
and we have a great time together, whether sewing, scrap booking or going to
dog shows. She is pictured with one of her Afghan hounds, who we fondly
refer to as 'Big Bird'. Fran is a very creative person, a wonderful
seamstress and very supportive of all of my Airedale endeavours.

Our square has an Airedale lounging in the chaise lounge.
This is actually one of Winston's favorite positions - you can usually find
him somewhere in the house or yard in some state of repose. The other dogs
depict a young pup playing in the yard, with another jumping up to see what
is happening in the tree above her. All are natural poses for the Airedales
I live with.
