Artist: Eileen Tedesco
Media: Hand appliqué and hand embroideryThe thieves... Wiz and Clancy. It is impossible to put on gloves or a hat without one or both Airedales trying to pull if off. I don't stand a chance when they each grab a glove or one goes for the glove and the other leaps for the hat. Wiz prances around with his hat/mitten, shaking it back and forth. Clancy dashes around with his, then lies down with it firmly clenched in his teeth, daring anyone to try to take it away.
Artist's Bio:
Wiz (Aragorn's Wiz) and Clancy (M and R's Leapyear's Leprechaun) are our first Airedales. We decided to get an Airedale to keep our Border Terriers company. Luckily, we found Wiz. Wiz is 12 and is my first attempt at obedience. We spent 9 years at Obedience Class and actually got one leg on his CD (a very kind judge that day). Wiz thought being off lead in the Obedience Ring meant it was time to visit with the stewards or to find some shade for lounging. He's spending his retirement on the couch or cruising the kitchen for a snack.
Clancy is 5 and my first show dog. We got 2 points on his title before deciding that I was not a very good handler and that he preferred to be home protecting the yard from rabbits, squirrels, and hummingbirds.
When not tending to the Airedales' carrot garden, I work as a programmer for IBM. The 1999 Rescue Quilt was my first quilting attempt. The 2000 Quilt was my second attempt and the 2001 Quilt is my third.
Webmaster's Note: Eileen, together with Geri Lowe, created the Quilt Book memorializing the 2001 Airedale Rescue Quilts, which will be presented to the winners of the quilts.
