Welcome to North East in Cecil County, Maryland! My name is Marianne Perry and this is my rescue Airedale, Bridgit. Bridgit is 8 years old and has been with us for 6 years now. We live with the rest of our family: Ray, my husband, and Robin, our daughter, at the top of the Chesapeake Bay. The Chesapeake Bay is a beautiful area of water, hills, wetlands, lighthouses, wildlife, waterfowl and world famous shellfish. After nearly 20 years, we still enjoy every day here by the Bay.

So why did I do a block featuring kangaroos with all of that at my doorstep?

Our family has very close ties to Australia. My husband and daughter are both Aussies. Ray or all of us go back every year for a visit. We try to combine long drives around the country with visiting friends and the rellies in the cities. I chose to portray the Outback of Australia with kangaroos as it is a universally recognizable theme. I'm sure the globe-trotting Airedales on this year's quilt wouldn't be able to resist an upclose encounter with Australia's most famous residents!
