When that furry face and huge paws stepped out of the Airline’s crate over 4 years ago and Bentley gave me that first big wet kiss, my heart melted. Over the next few months, I worked very hard at being the best Airedale mom that I could be BUT Airedales can bring doubt to even the most confident of us. In desperation I turned to the Internet and found help on two lists – the L-List and Adt-Lovers… the help I received from many of the Airedalers on those lists kept me sane and helped me understand that I wasn’t a terrible “mom” and that the things Bentley did were typical Airedale. When I saw my first “ADT-L” Quilt being raffled I marvelled at the talent and love that went into this project. I couldn’t believe how many Airedales needed help, how many were abandoned and how many were abused. I offered to help with the next quilt project which was “Home at Last” – while I couldn’t quilt and didn’t know just how I could help – I was willing to do what I could. That started a great and thrilling adventure. I have made friends with women all over the United States and Canada. I’ve learned how to quilt, how to applique and the true meaning of teamwork. Two years ago – I wasn’t quick enough and everyone stepped back and I was left standing at the front – and became the Bee Project Manager. So every year – I steer our team through various projects with the help of some of the most talented and caring women I know. I live in Boca Raton, Florida with my husband Ron and our great young Airedale – Bentley. I help Ron in our business brokerage business by taking care of the accounting and computer work. I’m an avid equestrian and have a very talented young quarter horse gelding named Robbie. This year’s block is Bentley in Paris – flirting with a French Poodle. This came to me instantly when the quilt theme was settled on because Bentley fancies himself “a real lady’s man” - the Pepee LePew of Airedales. Leslie Apple came up with the perfect drawing and “Arrooo-la-la” was created. My hope is that this year’s quilt will melt your hearts and inspire many more Airedale lovers to help us raise even more money for Airedale Rescue.
