Our fenced acre is in the
midst of a thick oak woods; we have lots of wild flowers in the
spring and fall. Tweed always takes time to smell the flowers! At
age 13, he doesn't want to go outside to play anymore, but he
especially loves the autumn smells very much! Tweed walks the acre
slowly, checking out the flowers and the ladybugs, just drinking in
the sunshine. Some of the flowers grow tall here, and I guess
because he's such a tall dog, he seems to like putting his face into
those most of all!
Once I saw Tweed standing tall and still up
the hill, just sniffing at a goldenrod and sneezing and sniffing
some more! With my block, I tried to depict Tweed on a glorious
North Florida autumn day, enjoying the goldenrod...and getting ready
to sneeze.
Unfortunately, during the construction phase of the Home At
Last quilt project, Evie's block was misplaced. Her lost block
was reproduced in memory of her beloved Tweed who died in November
of 2002. Thanks to Karen Brown for making the replacement
block.
