I can remember collecting Rupert from the breeders. She called the puppies into the lounge and nine of them came bounding in - five steps behind came Rupert, with paws at least double the size of the others! At the moment he measures 27.5 inches at the shoulder which I believe is rather too large, but who cares?!

Rupert is now 9 months old. He was very easy to housetrain but does delight in 'stealing' anything within reach! At Christmas I was entertaining a group of friends in the lounge. Rupert wasn't getting enough attention and so, woosh! he pranced into the room, picked up my beautiful nativity scene, and pranced out of the room again! Of course, my friends thought this hilarious and he got his attention.

In my eyes, Rupert is the best dog in the world. He is funny and has an unrivalled sense of humour. He knows just how to tug at your heart strings. He is the most wonderful companion. Out walking (sorry, prancing!) I'm constantly amazed by the amount of people that pet him - people even stare from their cars! He is a real show-off.

One of his favourite tricks is the 'nosepoke'. He can spot an unsuspecting human at 50 paces and makes straight for them, delighting in giving a nosepoke (from behind of course)and then running off! Thankfully people seem to find this amusing, if a bit shocking.

If anyone needs joy in their life, I would recommend an Airedale every time.
